What photo editing software do you use?

approx. > 2 Min Read 📖 Clients and fellow photogs often ask me, what do you use to edit photos? Your fave night owl 🦉 has come to spill the beans! Below I’ll share desktop and mobile apps that have been part of my photography journey.

Desktop Apps:

My main editing software is Lightroom CC. I’ve had Adobe for a couple years now, since 2017 I want to say. I used to have Photoshop but truthfully,  I found Lightroom better fits my editing style *plus lmao Photoshop meant paying more so I had to let one go.* Back in 2017, I also used to pay for a photo editing app called VSCO Cam. I remember in those times, VSCO sold desktop presets and I believe I paid $30+ USD to get a couple hundred desktop film presets. Those presets thankfully still work on my Lightroom after all these years. Lightroom is very easy to use and in my photography work, I usually don’t add too many edits. I tend to lean towards natural looking editing with a film-y texture and colors. The latest version of Lightroom CC has some major updates like community shared presets and AI editing (such as lens blur and generative/object aware eraser). Another desktop/browser software I use is Befunky.com. It’s my go to for resizing my images. I can def resize within Lightroom but I have a little more control and ease on Befunky.

Mobile Apps:

For mobile apps, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Prequel. I use this app to sometimes add some heavier “aesthetic” edits to my photos. I usually make use of Prequel for my personal photos and personal photography rather than my Client Work. Prequel has some amazing filters and effects that just give a sense of nostalgia and artsy vibes to photos.

I also use Adobe Express for when I want to remove the backgrounds from my images or when I want to add a few elements to my images to market myself. Adobe Express has been a tried and true editing companion since 2017.

Overall, I use different apps for my different photo needs. Later on this month, I can share how I store my photos, the cost, the benefits (and cons) and even photo printing companies I’ve used that I love!
