Before a client’s photo session with me, I offer them some tips so we can make the most of your time together and so that there’s less chaos in the post-production process. I like to make them a graphic but here I’ll just list it!

NUMBER ONE: I ask Clients to make sure their nails and fingers are clean and polished before their shoot so that the day of, we don’t have to concern ourselves with poses that hide their fingers. If we are doing close ups with varying poses including having the hands near the face or in the frame, nothing is worse than having chipped nail polish, unclean nails or dry hands. P.S. PLEASE TAKE THE HAIR TIES OFF YOUR WRIST! :)

NUMBER TWO: I ask Clients to make sure they have their hair and makeup done (if applicable) before their shoot. If it is a humid summer day and my Client has straightened their hair, I remind them that their hair will frizz quickly in outdoor sessions. I prefer Clients to upgrade their session in a private studio so that their hair can maintain the sleekness they want and they will have to come prepared with a hair straightener to touch up their own hair or have a hair stylist/an assistant to do it for them. Same goes for makeup, I encourage Clients to bring the makeup they need to touch up during the shoot.

NUMBER THREE: Clients please get enough REST! You don’t want to look and be super tired the day of your photo session! Your beauty sleep is not only imperative for you to come out your best in your photos, its also great for your overall well-being!

NUMBER FOUR: Clients make sure to have your outfits ready well before your photo shoot. If you are struggling picking between outfits, please narrow it down to one and you can have an alternate top to switch out of if there are bathrooms nearby your shoot location. Also take into account the photo session you’ve booked. If you booked a 20 minute session, there’s no way to do an outfit change, however if you book an hour session that says you can be photographed in up to 2 fits, then come prepared!

NUMBER 5: Communicate with your Photographer! I always give my Clients my cell number so that they day before and day of the shoot we can confirm the meetup spot etc. I’ve had Clients have emergencies when they ask for their photo session to be pushed later in the day and I’ve been able to accommodate some of them. This is obvi up to the discretion of the Photographer you’ve booked. Make sure to read your contract on rescheduling stipulations, some require 48 hours to reschedule or cancel.

NUMBER 6: HAVE FUNNNN! Remember that bringing your best energy to your photo session will help you and your Photographer achieve the best results! Let loose and remember that you are worth being remembered as you are with all your quirks and your presence! Set the intention of having fun and enjoying the most of your photo session and you will see yourself, the magic you can co-create with your photographer.
